A funicular to get to Skanson

July 24, 2018 - Behind our apartment there is an open air museum called Skanson. It was founded in 1891 and is part of a tradition here in Europe of taking old traditional buildings and relocating them to a central area to preserve the history and heritage of the culture. Think Conner Prairie and you will be close. These buildings and farm houses however are much older.

To make it fun they are populated by local actors in period costumes. Here was the disappointing part. I have friends that work at Conner Prairie and found similar work. They are lively trained committed actors. These folks ....well they were not. We went into one Farm house and there was a woman knitting. We asked what she was doing and in a sleepy Xanax like state she expressed her concern that winter is coming fast and she has to get the Farm ready. It was 90 degrees outside. Let’s just say we were not alarmed.

But it was pretty and to make up for the woeful acting they did have a moose.

A Swedish moose!
