Walking thru "Jack's neighborhood"

Writer's picture: Glenn DobbsGlenn Dobbs

April 18, 2017 - We went on a walk thru London's East End this afternoon.

The steeple in the background belongs to a Protestant church ("Christ Church") placed in this area in 1711 by Queen Anne for "the Godless thousands who had no place to worship."

In 1888 the church grew in infamy. It was the bells of this church that pinpointed for many witnesses the times of the Jack the Ripper crimes which took place in this neighborhood.

Today, the area is rapidly gentrifying and people are working to save it's unique character. We visited 'Bangladesh Town' and Brick Lane. We saw some amazing food stalls and street art here.

About Us

I was waiting for a baby to be born.  It was the fall of 2015 and I had been a practicing OB/GYN for over 20 years.  I could sense it was a time for change in my life.  With new insight to what was possible, we started fantasizing about what this new life could look like.  We starting to call it our “Road to Bali.”  We didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but are so glad we took the first steps into this new adventure.  We hope you enjoy coming along on our “Road to Bali.”
