December 23, 2018 - ‘Hamilton’ lives up to the hype. I have heard the music before, but like any good theatre it is best experienced live. Only in a theatre can you feel the full force of the show’s passion.
To have passion is to feel so strongly about something that you suffer. Indeed, that feeling is what makes Hamilton so exhilarating. Not since Les Miserables have I been so moved by a show. What makes the story so compelling is that it is true. Alexander Hamilton was a genius and much of the America we know and admire today was a direct result of his extraordinary efforts. He came to what would become this country at the age of 18 and in only 29 blistering years almost single handedly crafted the form of government we now enjoy. To think he was a bastard child with no money or privileges at that time is all the more remarkable. And he (gasp) was an immigrant!
Men like him are sorely missing today. ‘FUBAR’ is the only apt epithet for Washington now.
However, I remain hopeful. This is the time of year when we celebrate hope. Despite the increasingly desperate ‘King Herod’ that is closeted in the White House, the world spins on. He will one day go and become a bad footnote of history.
“.....tomorrow there will be more of us”
We have ample reason for joy. God has not forgotten us. We are reminded this holiday that the same everlasting God that cared for us yesterday will also comfort us tomorrow. Be at peace then and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
So I close this shortest episode of ‘The Road to Bali’. “The Christmas Special”. LOL. We are coming home.
Happy Christmas! Episode VII starts in just over a month.
