July 18, 2018 - Here on the episodes of “The Road to Bali” we go the extra mile to bring you the information you want to know.
So we were asked “Say Glenn, is the Baltic Sea cold in summer?” After careful testing I can say, “Yes it is”.
“But why do I have to test it?” , my lovely wife asked.
Reasonably I replied, “Honey, it’s my camera, someone needs to take the picture”
We are here on the island (with Viktor ) a couple of more days before leaving for Stockholm. It is warm for Sweden and they have had a significant drought for awhile now. Good for
travelers like us, but tough on the environment. We walked to the edge of the island where you can see many more islands that form the archipelago around Stockholm.
Oh, you want to know more about Viktor don’t you? He really is a very nice man. He has had numerous jobs. “Because I like a challenge”, he tells us. We were admiring his impeccable decorating when we spotted what appeared to be a certificate for a Nobel Prize. I assumed it was a memento from his travels, after all the Nobel Awards are given out here in Sweden. So I asked him about it.
“It is real, I am a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. I was given that in Oslo. “.
To which I replied in a diplomatic and careful way, “Bullshit”
.
He explained, he was a member of the military and part of the United Nations Peace Keeping force that helped stabilize the conflict of Turkey’s invasion of Cyprus a number of years ago. Every member of the unit was awarded the certificate.
So Viktor is a great cook, AirBnB host , patriotic Swede, soldier of fortune, great decorator , world traveler , obsessive compulsive neat nick, advanced recycler, and a cat owning Nobel Laureate.
And he fixed the plumbing so the water is back on.
