April 24, 2017 - This is the Central lobby or "Octagon Hall" that stands in the heart of Westminster Palace. From this room you can go to the House of Commons or House of Lords. It has been described as "The political center of the British Empire".
We returned to Westminster today.
We visited the Abby, the Palace, and Whitehall. A highlight was sitting in the House of Commons and watching the debates.
Most of what you see with the palace today was built after 1834 when the original palace burned down. Only the great hall remains from that time but it dates back farther than Richard II. !
