The grave of the Apostle Paul


November 13, 2018 - I could not help but be moved by this image. This is the actual grave of the Apostle Paul. We know from both biblical and extra-biblical sources that Paul died in Rome between 64 and 68 AD. Nero was Emperor. It happened after the great fire in Rome. Recently archeologists were allowed access to the grave and confirmed the dating of the remains.

He was beheaded, since he was a Roman citizen which was more merciful than crucifixion. He was around 62 years old.

Paul wrote 13 of the 27 books of the New Testament. His writings have been the cornerstone of the faith.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” - Ephesians 4:8-9
