July 1, 2018 - We visited Helsinki Finland today for a short visit. We wanted to find this place because of a recommendation is ‘Atlas Obscura’. The atlas is a great reference for odd and unique sites all over the world.
This is The Church of the Rock. It is a Lutheran church built underground. It has a roof of copper wire and windows that allow natural light to flood in. It is a masterpiece of design blending the natural rock with modern elements.
Below is a little more of this very walkable city. If you look at the stature base you will see bullet holes still present from the war. Helsinki is not very big, but 'hipster' in it's vibe and full of trendy design stores and coffee shops.
