April 25, 2017 -- As a person who enjoys theatre as an art form, this building is holy ground. Founded by Sir Laurence Olivier, among others, this is the National Theater of England.
It is endowed by the government with a mandate to present the most compelling and entertaining productions in the world of the highest possible quality.
Some of the most famous productions the world has ever seen, began here. And because the government endows the venture, it allows the artists to focus on product.
The result is the English have an unrivaled center of culture and art for all of their citizens to enjoy.
We attended a revival of "Angels in America" here. After we left , the production would travel to Broadway where it would win several Tony Awards.
It was a distinct privilege to attend a show here. The tickets were reasonable and the citizens of London are justifiably proud to have this theatre here in the South bank of the Thames river.
