March 12, 2018 - I was having trouble deciding which story to tell today. There are the cicadas that take performance enhancing drugs here (unbelievably loud) or the day to day costs. I settled on the costs.
Thailand is so special not only for it’s beauty and people, but in general it is very cheap. Here are some examples (and this is from a more expensive area)
- Plate of amazing Pad Thai and a cold local beer $5
- one hour resort level message $10 ( I’ve had 3)
- ice cream $2
- full day walking and bathing elephants for 2 $90
- rent a kayak $ 5
- Mango fruit shakes $ 1. (They have every other fruit but why would you not choose mango?)
- great beach with warm temperatures - Free
The trouble is of course it is 9,127 miles away from home. A considerable hump to get over in the amount of Advil you need to endure the plane ride alone
We are nearing the end of this leg of our travels. We leave for Bangkok soon.
