September 2, 2017 - Hard to see in this shot, but these are salmon swimming upstream. We passed this stream on the way to a market this AM. Never seen this before. They would rest behind a rock where the current wasn't as strong, then one would swim up to the next rest stop followed by the others. Looks exhausting.
The valley is filled with smoke today from a forest fire in Washington state. It is quite thick even though the fire is some distance away. I am told the smoke is affecting a lot of British Columbia. It must be quite a blaze.
Tomorrow we leave the Okanagan Valley and head north to Field Canada. We may be out of touch for awhile. I am told they only get "Mountain WiFi" which is apparently powered by Moose methane. We shall see.
