Rice paddies in the rain

Tam Coc Vietnam

April 7, 2018 - These are some of the rice fields of Tam Coc Vietnam. We had read this place was beautiful and it does not disappoint The rice fields provide a vivid green contrast to the rising limestone karsts that thrust up from the ground. At harvest time, all of this turns a brilliant yellow. Part of the recent King King movie was filmed here. It is easy to see why.

Rice farming is hard work. I know it is a surprise but my agricultural knowledge base is thin at best. I never understood why rice had to be submerged. It has to do with rice needs a consistent temperature to grow and the water maintains that climate and it also prevents weeds.

It was still drizzling this morning so Colleen (Mary Poppins) found this red umbrella and made the picture work.

About Us

I was waiting for a baby to be born.  It was the fall of 2015 and I had been a practicing OB/GYN for over 20 years.  I could sense it was a time for change in my life.  With new insight to what was possible, we started fantasizing about what this new life could look like.  We starting to call it our “Road to Bali.”  We didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but are so glad we took the first steps into this new adventure.  We hope you enjoy coming along on our “Road to Bali.”
