“Time is a precious thing....” - Willy Wonka
So the local conversation here is all about Pakistan. I was talking with the waiter about it.
“Oh, no worries sir, India is very safe,” He declared proudly.
“Why do you say that?”, we asked.
“Pakistan makes very poor bombs. Only a range of 2500 kilometers. Low blast radius.”, he explained, “India’s bombs are much bigger. 5,000 Kilometer range. Big explosion.”
“So you are saying, your’s is bigger than his?”
“Exactly!”
And so at breakfast you got a nice meal and a complete lecture on how wars start.
Good times.
I wish to stress again, we are quite safe and comfortable. It looks like our flight home is secure. So, no worries.
One year ago today I was flying over the Bay of Bengal marveling that I would ever get to travel so far. I felt on my Birthday to be so incredibly fortunate and my sense of excitement was very high.
A year later I am in a Marriott in Delhi, India hiding from Pakistani missiles.
(Not really, but it is fun to say).
We have visited 9 new countries since then and I still can’t believe it. As I turn 58 today, I celebrate this precious time and I am so grateful to have Colleen with me. My hope is that I can continue to appreciate the gift of time and while I have it share it with her.
What could be a better birthday present?
