The chapel inside Frederisksburg Castle

July 12, 2018 - We traveled to Hillerød because we wanted to see Fredericksborg Castle. We read it was considered the grandest castle in Scandinavia and it did not disappoint. It was reportedly inspired by Versailles.

Not the town in Indiana. The other one

Built between 1602 and 1620 it started out as a hunting lodge by Frederick II. But his son Christian IV (the guy from the earlier post) wanted it “bigger”. In 1859 there was a fire and much of it was destroyed.

It was rebuilt to exact detail by the founder of Carlsburg Beer. Today it is a museum.

The picture above is the castle ‘chapel’ located in the main building. Several kings have been crowned in here. The wooden organ here is original from 1620 and still plays. Commoners can get married here, but there is a long wait

About Us

I was waiting for a baby to be born.  It was the fall of 2015 and I had been a practicing OB/GYN for over 20 years.  I could sense it was a time for change in my life.  With new insight to what was possible, we started fantasizing about what this new life could look like.  We starting to call it our “Road to Bali.”  We didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but are so glad we took the first steps into this new adventure.  We hope you enjoy coming along on our “Road to Bali.”
