Magical Realism

April 6, 2018 - A bit of a potpourri of images. This has been a travel day. We traveled 4 hours west of HaLong bay by car

Our destination is Tam Coc. Often called the “Halong Bay of the country”. The reason is, like the bay, there are an abundance of soaring limestone karsts surrounded by rivers, caves, and green rice paddies. The whole area has a shimmering magical realism about it. We have only just arrived and not yet fully explored things

First real weather today for our long drive. Soaking rain has blanketed the area. It is supposed to end tonight but we don’t mind. It makes the air fresh and cool. So we are hanging out in the hotel having some excellent Pho soup.

Tomorrow I will try a motorbike for our tour. I will try to live out my Anthony Bourdain fantasy of riding a scooter in Vietnam.

It likely will not end well but I have to try.

About Us

I was waiting for a baby to be born.  It was the fall of 2015 and I had been a practicing OB/GYN for over 20 years.  I could sense it was a time for change in my life.  With new insight to what was possible, we started fantasizing about what this new life could look like.  We starting to call it our “Road to Bali.”  We didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but are so glad we took the first steps into this new adventure.  We hope you enjoy coming along on our “Road to Bali.”
