May 23, 2017 - After 6 weeks, 45 plus posts, and walking over 225 miles here, we are bringing this journey of Episode I to a close. Tomorrow we leave for home, a non bumpy bed, and consistent hot water.
As I try to find some words that sum up this trip, I return again to Bill Bryson with his thoughts on 'This England'.
He writes , " Who else could have given us William Shakespeare, pork pies, Christopher Wren, Windsor Great Park, Salisbury Cathedral, double decker buses, and the chocolate digestive biscuit ? Wherever else could I find a view like this? Nowhere, of course. All of this came to me in the space of a lingering moment. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I like it here. I like it more than I can tell you. ....and as I turned from the gate ... I knew without a doubt that I would be back"
