April 2, 2019 - As with most of the hacks we describe on this blog, none of them are our original ideas. We had some basic goals in mind and looked at a lot of other travel blogs and videos for ideas. We knew we wanted to travel with one bag for 6-8 weeks that would fit in a carry on bin on an airplane.

Rick Steves, the sometimes banal host of the PBS travel series, is one of the best at giving advice. His thirty years of travel experience combined with a knack for teaching makes him an excellent resource. I even purchased one of his bags for our first trip. (look for the bags review in another post) His travel books are the best we ever used. (They deserve their own post).

He gives a number of talks with tips on travel. Below you will find links to lectures he and his associates gave on packing. They are well worth a look. We tested the advice in real world travel and it works.
