March 8, 2018 - We took a walk this morning around the cliff base where we are staying. I began to hear loud and distinct hooting calls. After making sure the sounds weren’t coming from Colleen , I asked a local. “Oh, those are the Gibbons”, she replied.
Gibbons! They have Gibbons here? I confess I did not know this small graceful ape was indigenous to the area. (I thought they lived at zoos). For the rest of the day I kept bothering Colleen, “Can you hear the gibbons?”
She accused me of sounding like Henry Fonda from ‘On Golden Pound’ - “Can you year the loons?”
