April 19, 2017 - There are so many things in London to see and do. One of the most heavily advertised tours is "See the sites Where Harry Potter was filmed".
Now I enjoyed the books and films as much as the next person, but this was ridiculous. Not only is the tour vastly overpriced but deceptive. Almost all of the films were made in a movie studio. So the tour takes you to a building whose facade was used and 'show a set' and declares, "See it happened here!" (It did not). So we did not partake of that experience.
But, we did want to see theatre. London in many ways exceeds New York in opportunities to see good theatre. And we did see some. This show was not one of them.
This production is crazy popular here. We were lucky to get tickets but only in the nosebleed seats. We were 5 miles up and it was like watching the show from an airplane. I can honestly say I saw the top of the head of Harry Potter only.
The show is in 2 parts and we could only get tickets for part 2. But I got the idea - Voldemort 'bad' , Harry 'Good.'
Colleen and I were here on our honeymoon and saw Les Miserables at this same theatre in 1984. It was just before it went to Broadway. We had much better seats then and it was a much better show
