Easter 'Sung Eucharist' at Westminster Abby

Writer's picture: Glenn DobbsGlenn Dobbs

April 16, 2017 - With the possible exception of "Big Ben" there is perhaps no other more iconic London landmark than Westminster Abby. It has been here near the Westminster Palace, the current home of Parliament, in some form or another since 1066 AD.

All coronations of English monarchs have taken place here as well as 16 royal weddings.

The Abby also houses the tombs of some of the most famous people in the world. Hundreds are buried here from Kings and Queens to most recently Stephen Hawking.

We had the unique opportunity to attend Easter service here today. We had never experienced "High Church" on such a scale.

The soaring altar, incense, and colorful robed priests made the entire ceremony surreal.

And when you fold in the choir, it is easy to feel you are approaching the very gates of heaven.

"Gloria in excelsis deo - et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis" !

About Us

I was waiting for a baby to be born.  It was the fall of 2015 and I had been a practicing OB/GYN for over 20 years.  I could sense it was a time for change in my life.  With new insight to what was possible, we started fantasizing about what this new life could look like.  We starting to call it our “Road to Bali.”  We didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but are so glad we took the first steps into this new adventure.  We hope you enjoy coming along on our “Road to Bali.”
