A Very Abu Birthday

"Thanks so much for the kind birthday wishes!"

- Me

The weather finally cleared and it gave us an opportunity to take a walk near the Presidential Palace (Above). Abu Dhabi doesn't really have an elected government. Everything is controlled by the royal family and three men basically make all the decisions. No one lives at this palace. This is 'The office' where they go to work and receive visitors. It is only around 10 years old.

Here are a few images -

And the outside -

Here is some of the skyline nearby - Unlike Dubai where the skyscrapers are concentrated like Manhattan, here in Abu Dhabi they are spread out on different islands. However, they are striking. Most of these are luxury hotels.

Finally, we made our way to this way over priced hotel to have 'High Tea" to celebrate my 59th birthday. It was wonderful.

We leave for Madrid Spain, our last leg for Episode IX, in a few hours.

Thanks for a great birthday!

Happy Birthday, Glenn! I’ve been enjoying the photos and your narratives. Amazing that you can find “down” time to do these so often while you’re still on the journey, but I can appreciate the advantage of doing so while the experience is still fresh.

About Us

I was waiting for a baby to be born.  It was the fall of 2015 and I had been a practicing OB/GYN for over 20 years.  I could sense it was a time for change in my life.  With new insight to what was possible, we started fantasizing about what this new life could look like.  We starting to call it our “Road to Bali.”  We didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but are so glad we took the first steps into this new adventure.  We hope you enjoy coming along on our “Road to Bali.”
