A tour of tours

April 5, 2018 - We traveled to the coast to do the signature experience here - a cruise around Halong Bay.

The tour traveled a set route and other than the few stops that were very congested, we felt like we had the bay to ourselves. It more than lived up to it’s Trip Advisor recommendation.

We spent a bit of time visiting with ex pats and locals. Apparently the Chinese are an issue here. We are a short drive from the Chinese border and some 50% of the vacation homes here are owned by them. Vietnam has a long history of tension with it’s giant neighbor to the North and the local government has put in steps to try and stop the whole thing from being swallowed up by China.

Tomorrow we leave for Ninh Binh in the countryside and our last stop before coming home.

Almost everywhere you looked there was something to photograph. Here are some below to enjoy and hopefully inspire you to make the trek to see this amazing bay.

About Us

I was waiting for a baby to be born.  It was the fall of 2015 and I had been a practicing OB/GYN for over 20 years.  I could sense it was a time for change in my life.  With new insight to what was possible, we started fantasizing about what this new life could look like.  We starting to call it our “Road to Bali.”  We didn’t know exactly where it would lead, but are so glad we took the first steps into this new adventure.  We hope you enjoy coming along on our “Road to Bali.”
